6GEN

Partner
i2CAT
Location
6GEN is distributed across our main offices in Barcelona and the in-field deployment located in Móra d’Ebre.
Functionalities
Experimental lab infrastructure for the research and validation of 6G technologies in the frame of non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
Equipment
6GEN infrastructure has three main parts:
- A field deployment that interacts with satellites in orbit (LEO, MEO, GEO), including both IoT and broadband terminals for ground to space communications from the main satcom providers. These include: Sateliot’s NB-IoT UEs, SWARM, Iridium, LoRA, Starlink, Inmarsat, Hispasat, Viasat and OneWeb terminals.
- Ground stations (Ka and X-band), UHF antennas and an optical ground station.
- A set of lab equipment to emulate NTN architectures, including user equipment emulator, channel emulator, satellite engineering models, NTN gNB emulator. It also includes a satellite system simulator (DSS-SIM) developed by i2CAT.
List of services and rates
Use of the experimental lab infrastructure is free of charge. Users of the infrastructure will be charged for the engineering support effort required from i2CAT’s team to set up the environment for a specific use case/experiment.
The access to the lab infrastructure will be requested via a predefined form that will provide sufficient level of detail to evaluate the feasibility of the request.
Engineering support efforts from i2CAT’s team will be offered at a discounted hourly rate for Phi-LabNET users (10% discount).
