ESA Phi-Lab NET Spain: first call for project financing
ESA Phi-Lab NET Spain is the competence centre, located in Barcelona, to promote innovation for the commercialization of space technologies in the field of climate resilience.
ESA’s Phi-Lab NET centres aim to create a dynamic network of centres across Europe that focus on innovation and whose results can be transferred to the market. Their main mission is to accelerate the future of the space sector, both upstream and downstream, based on innovation projects with high commercial potential that transform or generate industrial fabric through new technologies. The aim is therefore to strengthen competitiveness in the productive sector through European research, making Europe the world leader in this field.
In the case of Phi-Lab NET Spain, it will support innovative and disruptive projects focused specifically on improving climate resilience, through calls directed by the consortium that coordinates it.
This first call is open to companies, research organisations and startups (legal entities or consortia registered in Spain or in ESA Member States, provided that they provide a clear benefit to Spain), and will remain open until 21 January 2025.
ESA Phi-Lab NET Spain is a program of the European Space Agency (ESA) that has with the support of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE) and the Generalitat de Catalunya, and will have a duration of 6 years.
This new initiative is part of the ESA ScaleUp Programme and is coordinated by the Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC), as leader of a consortium formed by the Fundació i2CAT, the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC), the Fundación General CSIC, Fundació KIMbcn, Arribes Enlightenment, the Universitat de València (UVEG), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), the Fundación Instituto Ricardo Valle de Innovación (INNOVA IRV), the Planta pilot de l’ESA MELiSSA de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and the Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO).
ESA Phi-Lab NET Spain is located in the RDIT building of the Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia in Castelldefels, Barcelona, also home to the IEEC and ESA-BIC Barcelona.
